Traditional Kahuna

massage & bodywork

About Kahuna

Kahuna is a traditional Hawaiian restorative healing system, which utilises the art of compassionate touch in the massage treatments. Lomi Lomi is a treatment that comes under the banner of Kahuna.

This modality uses hands, forearms and elbows for a range of therapeutic effects. Kahuna helps increase spiritual energy, personal power and general wellbeing (also called mana).

The deep tissue work provides fascial release and the yin flow technique gives receivers a deep restorative relaxation. You will leave the treatment room knowing you will want to be back for more!

The MIKAHUNA point of difference

  • I’m passionate about providing greater access to the wonderful Kahuna Lomi Lomi treatments. Working from a private, dedicated clinic room in Maclean in NSW allows me to keep the treatments as affordable as possible.

  • The best results come from regular care. To inspire you, my offer is a loyalty card, similar to getting a coffee from the same provider...

After you receive five Kahuna Lomi Lomi treatments, you receive the 6th treatment for free!

Conditions; All six treatments need to be completed within a 6 month period; from the date of the 1st treatment.

  • Cold pressed almond oil is always used in the massage treatments, providing a wonderful pure and nourishing treatment for your skin.

  • In my experience with Kahuna bodywork, 60 minutes is wonderful and theraputic but seems to pass quickly. If you would like to go deeper, my preference is 90-minute treatmens. I also offer 120 minutes.

  • My aim is to have you on the table for the full treatment time - 60, 90 or 120 minutes. My recommendation is for you, to try and arrive close to the agreed start time for your massage; and allow for up to 15 minutes, of extra time at the end of you booked massage time.

This way we will have time to settle in, discuss the focus for your treatment, and be comfortable before the treatment starts. For example, if your time booked is 11 to 12.30, aim to arrive at 11 of just before and plan to leave at around 12.45. This is handy to know if you are getting picked up or have somewhere to be, after your treatment.

  • Mobile treatments:

My prefernce is for treatments in my clinic room, which is a beautiful, private dedicated massage space. If that is not possible, mobile treatments may be an option in McLean / Yamba region (including Brooms Head and Iluka). These have an additional cost of $100 per visit. (not per massage)

I have been massaging for 15 years on a part time basis, however in 2023 I left my role as General Manager of a 5 star retreat to being a full time Kahuna massage practitioner. I now spend my time focusing on more mindful pursuits like yoga, meditation and my work as a masseur.

My Kahuna massage and body work training and certification was with the beautiful Tina Featherheart at The School of The Rising Healer.

I recently settled in the Maclean / Yamba area, and run my Kahuna practice from here in a custom built space on my property. Previously I had clinics at ‘Sacred Hearth Sanctuary’ near Mullumbimby, and at ‘Heaven in The Hills’, Reesville, Maleny.

I am so inspired by this rhythmic flowing body work technique. Doing the work, lights me up. Kahuna affects everyone differently and that is what is wonderful about it. However the essence of this practice is a healing bodywork modality, and I am honoured to provide my clients a peaceful yet energised sense of being in the world, that you will walk away with after your treatment.
